Day 1
Cincinnati to Sharps Chapel Tennessee
Day One was an easy trip. We are regularly down in Tennessee, so the route was well known. The challenge was making sure I had everything packed. I had a new 12V cooler for the road, to keep drinks and meds cool. My goal was to pack light, not lugging a big duffle bag everywhere. We shall see how that works.
Wife and I hit Kroger to double on on gas points. While I was filling up my car, she walked over to a local veteran who had fallen on hard times and gave him some money for dog food for his cute pup. She returned and I got ready to move my car out of the ways so she could keep pumping. I cleverly chose to put the fuel pump back in the gas tank holder. (I am convinced there is a better name for this device, but i’m also 70, so there you go). Of course that reset the pricing and we lost the discount. And so the trip starts.
I still had to pick up my meds….that only took 20 minutes at Kroger pharmacy drive through I waited for a senior citizen who it seemed was getting her first ever prescription filled. Some cash from the 5/3 ATM and then I remembered that I had failed to pack my hearing aid cleaning kit. I was sure over two weeks I would slowly lose function, so back to the house I went. Go figure how the brain works. Or doesn’t.
The trip down I75 flew by. My wife and I and dogs spent the night at the lake. In the morning I took off, leaving them behind at the lake.
